 Junior Warriors Football

2025 Schedule will be available at a later date.

Purpose
This program gives our area grade school athletes a possible three or four years of tackle football experience prior to high school. It exists to teach players the basic skills of tackle football, teamwork and good sportsmanship, under the guidance of Christian coaches.

Eligibility
All boys who will be entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the fall of the upcoming school year and are interested in playing for a Christ-centered program that has the development of future Warrior football players in mind are welcome to participate.

Divisions and Conference play
Assuming numbers are sufficient, we field separate 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade teams. We are members of the Badger East Youth Football League and compete against teams from Jefferson, Lake Mills, Cambridge, Belleville, Columbus, Whitewater, DeForest, Monroe, Fort Atkinson, Delavan, East Troy, and McFarland.

Practices/Games

Practices begin the week of August 4th, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. and run every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday leading up to the first game on Saturday, August 23. Thereafter, practices are Tuesday and Thursday evenings and vary between 4-7 p.m. Games are usually on Saturdays. The season includes 7 games, with the final game expected October 11.

Safety
Participants are required to have an up-to-date physical (within the last two years). Each player is equipped with quality equipment from Riddell. Prospective coaches receive instruction from Lakeside football staff. Sleds, dummies and other appropriate equipment are provided by Lakeside. The Lakeside Lutheran High School athletic trainer is present at all games.

Registration fees
Registration is $175 per player for those registered online by April 15. The fee includes a t-shirt for the players. After April 16, the registration price is $200 .

Please register as early as possible, or e-mail Matt Doering at [email protected] to let us know of your plans to register or your decision status. We are always excited to see 20-plus boys signed up for each of the three levels in order to plan. In recent years we have had to open the 6th grade program up to 5th graders in order to field a team. We prefer not to, but if it’s again necessary, we would like to know as far in advance as possible.

Please also keep in mind there are opportunities for parent involvement on game days, such as being a part of the chain gang. We ask that you consider helping out so that home games can run as smoothly as possible.

After you register, we send form, including a physical form, that all need to be complete and submitted before equipment is issued.

Junior Warriors Girls Basketball Club 2024-2025

(Updated: September 27, 2024)

Registration Link HERE (Link closed on September 8, 2024)

GRADES 5-8 – The Junior Lady Warriors basketball club is open to all girls attending grades 5-8 at one of our Lakeside Federation Lutheran elementary schools; note: 8th graders should have the desire to enroll at Lakeside for high school; club involvement is not intended to replace participation on Lutheran elementary school teams. If you are not a member of one of our federation schools, participation will be considered on an individual basis by the school and athletic administration.

GOALS – Our goals are 1) through quality instruction to build each girl's skills and give her confidence to contribute to her team both offensively and defensively, 2) to provide competitive opportunities that challenge each girl, 3) to encourage each girl to continue playing at the high school level, and 4) to build Christian friendships.

TRYOUTS – Two Sunday tryout sessions have been scheduled at Lakeside: September 22 and September 29, 2024, both from 6-8 pm; girls should plan to attend both tryouts; typically, teams will be comprised of 10 to 12 players; an email with team decisions will be sent out within a week of the second tryout.

PRACTICES – Practices are scheduled for Sunday evenings in October through November in an effort to avoid numerous conflicts with either facilities or other church/school activities) and typically run 6-8 pm (or shorter) at Lakeside; please realize those individual coaches may occasionally adjust their practice dates/times.

COACHESWe are blessed to have committed, caring, and capable coaches. Parents, knowledgeable in basketball, who are interested in coaching/assisting are asked to contact Coach Andy Asmus.

5th and 6th Grade Coaches - Kevin Proeber, Allen Kirschbaum, Sara James
7th Grade Coach - Jenny Krauklis
8th Grade Coach - Peter Rahn and Melissa Thoma

COMPETITION – All teams will compete in the Eastern Suburban Youth Basketball League (ESYBL) on Saturdays from the end of October through mid to late December (skipping Thanksgiving weekend); these games are played at communities within an hour of driving time from Lakeside; usually there are 2 games each Saturday.

*IF a team desires to play in tournaments following the ESYBL season it is up to the coaches, players, and parents to agree to and pay for additional tournaments if they decide.

REGISTER – 1) register online through the page link to a Google registration/medical release form, and 2) please register on or before September 8, 2024, which is 2 weeks in advance of the first tryout.

COMMITMENT – Academic responsibility should be a top priority for the girls; plus, each girl should consider how participation may impact her family; attendance at club practices/competitions is expected unless excused by the coach; school/church activities should always take priority.

COSTNo payment needs to be made until after tryouts; the fees will be $135 for each 5th to 8th-grade player; monies will cover league entry fees, team expenses, and a reversible game jersey. Typically, club fees should be paid by the end of October. If any level desires to be a tournament-only team the fee increases by $50.

Contact LLHS girls' head coach Andy Asmus [email protected] for additional information/clarification.

2025-2026 The Director of Lady Junior Warriors will be Bill Tomlin.

Junior Warriors Boys Basketball Club

Junior Warrior Boys Basketball Club offers students the opportunity to participate on a club team with other players from within the LLHS Federation who have a similar interest and ability in basketball. The program supports a team at each grade level 5-8.

The season runs from early November through March. Each grade level team carries a squad of up to twelve players. Teams practice at Lakeside or local Federation gyms and participate in tournaments throughout the state. Junior Warriors is not intended to replace participation with your Federation grade school team, but offers kids who have the passion, drive, and ability the opportunity to play basketball at a higher level within a Christian environment.

Registration fees are $175. These fees help defray the cost of uniforms, gym fees, and tournament entry fees.

Tryouts for the 2024-25 teams will be:

Monday, November 4, 2024  6-8 pm
Monday, November 11, 2024  6-8 pm

Players are encouraged to attend both tryouts. All players should fill out a registration form by Oct. 28. All players within the LLHS Federation are encouraged to try out, but we ask players and parents to consider the following expectations before committing to our program:

  • 8th-grade players will need to register for their freshman year at LLHS by December.
  • 5-7th-grade players should be considering and have a desire to attend LLHS.
  • Teams will begin practices in November; players are expected to attend practices unless excused by the coach (grade school practices, games, and school functions will be excused).
  • Games consist of selected weekend tournaments or league participation.
  • Academic responsibility and staying up to date on homework should be a top priority.
  • Families need to consider how participation will impact family time.

All players/families will be contacted by e-mail concerning the selection of each team shortly after the last tryout. Once teams are selected, we will hold a parent meeting to collect the $175 player fee and organize for the season.

Our main purpose and goal is the development of our younger players. Our coaching staff will create a positive learning experience and provide quality instruction at each practice. Players will be challenged to develop their individual skills as players while working together for the common good of their team. Along the way, players will develop great friendships with future classmates and have a great time playing basketball.

Once again, our staff encourages all of you to consider trying out and joining our program. If the player fee hinders a player from trying out for the team, or if you have any further questions or concerns, contact Coach Jahns.

Warrior Summer Softball

Girls age 5 & older are eligible to participate in our Junior Warrior summer softball program. Games are scheduled against other area communities in the recreation-based Windmill Travel League that teaches the participants through fun & effective drills on hitting, pitching & defense to play softball. Practices are set by volunteer coaches.

Games are held by age group at various parks.
• Ages 5-8 play single machine pitch games on Wednesday evenings (typically grades 1-2).
•  7-8 year-olds play single live pitch games in the U8 age group. Rules are modified to suit the younger player.
• Age 9-10 play doubleheaders on Monday evenings (typically grade 3-4).
• Age 11-12 play DHs on Tuesday evenings (typically grade 5-6).
• Age 13-14 play DHs on Thursday evenings (typically grade 7-8).
• Ages over 14 as of 12/31/22 and interested in playing summer ball should email Barb Walters at [email protected]

U8 machine pitch is $65. Registration for all other leagues is $100/player.

Players in live pitch will need their own bat, helmet with face guard, glove and pants. Jerseys are provided. Bag and cleats are recommended. Metal cleats are for the U14 division and older. Each team will have catcher’s gear.

A player's age as of August 31 of the preceding year determines the age in which the player is eligible to play. The youngest player in our program is age 5 as of 8/31/23 and would play in the U8 age group.

  • A parent or guardian may request an exception to age so that their daughter may play on more than one team or play with an older age group by contacting Ken Walters.
  • Exceptions will be reviewed after the deadline when final numbers are determined for each level.

We are using online registration through www.leaguelineup.com/windmillfastpitchsoftball. You can create an account to expedite registration but not necessary. Payment must accompany your registration. Deadline to register is the third Sunday in March.
