Boys Football Camp July 16-19
This non-padded camp is geared to work on the non-contact skills of the game of football: passing, catching, ball handling/carrying, coverage skills, route running and more. Putting these skills to use in 7-on-7 competition will make it a fun camp.
Boys participating in the Lakeside Lutheran Youth Football program are certainly encouraged to attend, but it’s not limited to YFB players. This camp provides a great opportunity for anyone wanting to learn more about the great game of football and improve skills. Camp is $50 for the 4-day session.

Youth Tackle Football
This program gives our area grade school athletes a possible three or four years of tackle football experience prior to high school. It exists to teach players the basic skills of tackle football, teamwork and good sportsmanship, under the guidance of Christian coaches.
All boys, who will be entering 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th grade in the fall of 2018, and are members of our area Lutheran congregations, are eligible to play. This program gives these athletes the opportunity to experience football with fellow Christians.
Divisions and Conference play
Assuming numbers are sufficient, we field separate 6th, 7th and 8th grade teams. We are members of the Dane and Jefferson County Youth Football League and compete against teams from Jefferson, Lake Mills, Deerfield, Cambridge, Waterloo, Marshall, Columbus, Whitewater and McFarland.
Practices begin Monday August 6, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. and run every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday leading up to the first game on Saturday, August 25. Thereafter, practices are Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5–7 p.m. Games are usually on Saturdays. The season includes 7 games, with the last game scheduled for October 13, 2018. A definitive game and practice schedule is set by the time we mail out forms to registered players in spring.
Participants are required to have an up-to-date physical (within the last two years). Each player is equipped with quality equipment from Riddell. Prospective coaches receive instruction from Lakeside football staff. Sleds, dummies and other appropriate equipment are provided by Lakeside. The Lakeside Lutheran High School athletic trainer is present at all games.
Please register as early as possible, or e-mail Paul Bauer at email@example.com
to let us know of your plans to register or your decision status. We are always anxious to see 20-plus boys signed up for each of the three levels in order to plan. In recent years we have had to open the 6th grade program up to 5th graders in order to field a team. We prefer not to, but if it’s again necessary, we would like to know as far in advance as possible.
Please also keep in mind there are opportunities for parent involvement on game days, such as being a part of the chain gang. We ask that you consider helping out so that home games can run as smoothly as possible.
After you register, we mail out four forms, including a physical form. They all need to be complete and submitted before equipment is issued.
Games are held by age group at various parks.
• Ages 5-8 play single machine pitch games on Wednesday evenings (typically grades 1-2).
• Also new this year is for 7-8 year-olds to play single live pitch games in the U8 age group. Rules are modified to suit the younger player.
• Age 9-10 play doubleheaders on Monday evenings (typically grade 3-4).
• Age 11-12 play DHs on Tuesday evenings (typically grade 5-6).
• Age 13-14 play DHs on Thursday evenings (typically grade 7-8).
This summer softball program helps girls become better players in fast-pitch softball and offers a smooth transition to high school softball. Girls are taught high school rules and learn to hit, bunt, steal bases, slide, play defense, and score runs at a high school level. Besides being fun, it is intended to encourage girls to continue to play softball in high school.
Games are scheduled against same age teams from surrounding communities and schools. Over 1,500 girls from area communities participated last year. Games begin in late May and conclude with a spectacular year-end Junior Olympic tournament for all age groups in July. Each player also receives an end-of-summer tournament t-shirt!
Players in live pitch will need their own bat, helmet with face guard, glove and pants. Jerseys are provided. Bag and cleats are recommended. Metal cleats are for the U14 division and older. Each team will have catcher’s gear.
Summer coaches are former high school players, local parents or coaches. Parents or young adults interested in coaching should contact softball coach Ken Walters at 920-648-8252 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
We are using online registration through leaguelineup.com/windmillfastpitchsoftball.
You can create an account to expedite registration but not necessary. Payment must accompany your registration.
