I grew up in New Ulm, MN and went to St. Paul Lutheran School through 5th grade. My dad went back to DMLC while I was in school and was assigned to Hoskins, NE where I lived for five years. While in Nebraska, I attended Trinity Lutheran School in Hoskins and then went two years to Nebraska Evangelical Lutheran High School in Waco. From there my family moved to Saginaw where I graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary.
Lakeside is the fourth school I have taught at. After graduating in 2002, I taught grades 3, 4, & 5 for five years at East Twin Lutheran School in Mishicot, WI. I then accepted the call to teach 4th grade at Siloah Lutheran School in Milwaukee, WI. In 2011, I began teaching at Eastside Lutheran School in Madison where I taught a variety of classes in grades 3, 4, 7 & 8.
I married my wife Becky (Brien) about a month after graduating from MLC in 2002. We have been blessed with five wonderful children: Joey (11), Tyler (9), Maleya (7), Caleb (5) and Rachel (two months) -- as of August 2017. Becky has the very busy job of running kids around to all the many activities they are involved in and making sure everyone is fed and clothed every day. Joey stays quite busy with soccer, cross country, basketball, and track. Tyler has been enjoying soccer for a long time and is excited to start cross country and basketball this school year. Maleya enjoys gymnastics and is looking forward to starting soccer this fall. Caleb enjoys doing whatever his older siblings are doing. Rachel doesn’t have any formal activities yet but does a great job of looking cute and being loved.
We are excited to be staying part of the Eastside Lutheran family in Madison. We have really loved being there the past six years, and the kids have made some great friendships. In my free time, I enjoy playing basketball and softball for our church teams. I also enjoying spending time with my family.
