In 2021, with the last of our mortgage loans paid off, your LLHS became debt free. This allowed us to be Free to Act! Since then we have completed Phase 1 and 2 with building renovations and upgrades. And we continue to plan for the future.

Phase 1—West Gym Reno complete
Phase 2—Caf/Entry Addition complete
Phase 3—We're already planning for and praying about next steps and wise spending in the future.
For the West Gym Reno specifically, it accommodated approximately 650 guests with the new seating plan. In addition, this allows us to fill our practical need for a worship space for chapel. This helps Lakeside offer this new and improved chapel and fine arts seating experience for our students, staff, families and visitors. We kicked off this stage with Giving Tuesday in 2021, and you responded with over $54,000 in gifts.
Phase 2—This planning for this phase began in 2023 and was completed in December 2024. Lakeside broke ground on a building expansion and renovation on April 8. The project includes a more prominent main entrance and front lawn monument, a cafeteria and front office renovation and expansion, as well as renovated lobby restrooms. Existing interior renovations are expected to be complete in time for the start of the upcoming school year; the entire project, including the expanded cafeteria space and a renovated main entry, has a December 2024 planned completion date. The school held a small ceremonial groundbreaking on Wednesday, April 10, when administration, student and governing board representatives, as well as reps from general contractor Design 2 Construct (D2C), and major contributor Twice is Nice Resale Store, gathered to ask for God’s blessing on the undertaking. It carried a $3.5M cost, with 80% secured through private donations prior to groundbreaking.
On Sunday, Dec. 15, the new cafeteria, entry, remodeled cafeteria, office, and bathrooms were dedicated. Principal Schultz and local pastors led a brief ceremony in the cafeteria. Then the doors to the new cafeteria were opened for a cake reception and self-guided tours of that space, as well as of the new entry and remodeled office area.
The cornerstone was reinstalled outside the main doors of the school. From the original cornerstone/time capsule dedication, to the opening of that 62 year-old piece of history last summer, to a new time capsule fabrication, to the 2024 dedication. We thank student Alex Isham and Teacher & Forever Warrior Caleb Kasper for creating the new time capsule that was installed behind the original 1962 cornerstone, filled with mementos to a future generation.
