My Father was a pastor and my mother had a background in teaching, but stayed home to help raise 10 children of whom I'm the oldest. I grew up in Kansas and Minnesota. I graduated from Martin Luther Academy in 1973 and from DMLC in 1977. My first call was to Medford, WI where I taught 1st and 2nd grade and helped serve as organist.
I got married and moved to Lake Mills in 1980, where I taught 3rd grade at St. Paul here in Lake Mills for one year, team-taught Preschool for many years, and taught 8th grade part-time for several years. I began working as a full-time aide in the Extended Learning Center at LLHS in 1998. I have served as an organist now for over 35 years at St. Paul, Lake Mills, St. John (Newville), Waterloo, and at Immanuel Lutheran, Deerfield.
My husband, David, an LLHS graduate, worked for 22 years on a mink ranch and then worked another 22 years at McKay Nursery in Waterloo, WI. He retired almost two and a half years ago. We have one daughter who graduated from LLHS in 2006, is married and working as a Pediatric ICU nurse at the Marshfield Hospital in Marshfield, WI.
I enjoyed working one-on-one with students when I was teaching full-time, and when the opening for this job came along, it was the perfect job for me. I enjoy figuring out what makes them tick, what kind of learner they are and then adapting a teaching style to fit their needs. Every day I am reminded what a real blessing it is for me to be working at LLHS.
My favorite pastimes are travelling, gardening, reading, and taking walks with my husband.
My favorite Bible passage is Psalm 46:10: Be still, and know that I am God. With this assurance, I can live and die in peace.
