impressed

God did something really impressive when he delivered Israel from slavery in Egypt. When Pharaoh hardened his heart and refused to release God’s people, God used a Passover Lamb to deliver his people. Then God led the Israelites safely through the divided waters of the Red Sea. No one had ever witnessed such powerful acts before. Those mighty acts of God made an impression on the Israelites—things that God’s people would never forget.

God also made an impression on his people with his commands —commands that showed them how to live as his people and how to stay focused on the coming Savior. Obeying God’s commands would be an expression of Israel's deep love for God. That is why God said to them, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:5-9 NIV)

God wanted his Word—his commands—to be used so often and so consistently that it infused every aspect of their lives. God wanted the Israelites to never forget his commands.

Our Savior Jesus did something really impressive when he—like a Passover Lamb—died to save us from our sins and rose to give us the hope of eternal life. He ascended to rule over all things for our good. Those things make an impression on us. They cause us to love and trust Jesus more than anything or anyone else.

God wants us to never forget what Jesus did. Just as God wanted his commands impressed on Israel, he wants the words and work of Jesus to be impressed on every heart. As God declared in the book of Colossians, “Let the message of Christ dwell in you richly” (3:16 NIV). God’s Word is at the heart of everything we do at Lakeside so that God’s Word will be infused into every aspect of students' lives as well.

There are many impressive things going on at Lakeside right now, from academic and co-curricular successes to campus updates and additions, but the one lasting impression we want for students is Jesus. We want his love, his forgiveness, and his peace to be impressed on each and every head and heart.

In early 2013. your Lakeside Lutheran received a 5-year accreditation through AdvancED, the K-12 division of the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI).

In spring 2018, your LLHS successfully underwent the process of re-accreditation. As part of this process, the committee asked a number of random students and adults on campus for one word that describes Lakeside. The results became the graphic you see here.
(The more often a particular word was given as a response, the larger it appears.)
